Biography

Mr. Fries has served as the Chief Executive Officer, President and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Liberty Global, plc (“Liberty Global”) (NASDAQ: LBTYA, LBTYB, LBTYK) since June 2005. Mr. Fries was Chief Executive Officer of UnitedGlobalCom LLC (“UGC”) from January 2004 until the businesses of UGC and Liberty Media International, Inc. were combined to form Liberty Global.

As an executive officer of Liberty Global and co-founder of its predecessor, Mr. Fries has overseen its growth into a world leader in converged broadband, video and mobile communications. Liberty Global delivers next generation products through advanced fiber and 5G networks, and currently provides over 86 million connections across Europe and the U.K. Liberty Global’s joint ventures in the U.K. and the Netherlands generate combined annual revenue of over $17 billion, while remaining operations generate consolidated revenue of more than $7 billion. Through its substantial scale and commitment to innovation, Liberty Global is building Tomorrow’s Connections Today, investing in the infrastructure and platforms that empower customers and deploying the advanced technologies that nations and economies need to thrive. Additionally, Liberty Global’s investment arm includes a portfolio of more than 75 companies across content, technology and infrastructure.

Mr. Fries has been a director of Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B) since November 2015. Mr. Fries has been Executive Chairman of Liberty Latin America Ltd. since December 2017 and a director of Grupo Televisa S.A.B. since April 2015. Mr. Fries serves as board member of CableLabs® and as a Digital Communications Governor and Steering Committee member of the World Economic Forum. Mr. Fries serves as trustee and finance committee member for The Paley Center for Media.

Mr. Fries is a member of Lionsgate Studios’ Compensation Committee.
